Bullet Cleaning Equipment

Efficient Tube Cleaning for Condensers and Heat Exchangers

CHEMCLEAN Services provides specialized bullet cleaning equipment and tube cleaning solutions for the effective removal of deposits, fouling and accumulated contaminants from the internal surfaces of condenser and heat-exchanger tubes.

Bullet cleaning is a mechanical tube-cleaning method in which specially designed cleaning bullets are passed through the tubes using a controlled water circulation system. The process helps restore tube cleanliness, maintain heat-transfer efficiency and support reliable equipment performance.

What Is Bullet Cleaning Equipment?

Bullet cleaning equipment is a specialized system used to mechanically clean the inside of condenser, heat-exchanger and other suitable tubular systems.

Cleaning bullets are selected according to the tube diameter, tube material, deposit characteristics and cleaning requirements. The bullets are circulated through the tubes to loosen and remove deposits from the internal tube surfaces.

Main Components of Bullet Cleaning Equipment

A typical bullet cleaning system consists of:

  • Bullet Launcher – Introduces the cleaning bullets into the tube circuit.
  • Bullet Catcher – Collects the bullets after they pass through the tubes.
  • Water Circulation System – Provides the controlled flow required for bullet movement.
  • Circulation Pumps – Maintain the required water flow during cleaning.
  • Valves & Manifolds – Control and direct water flow through the cleaning circuit.
  • Hoses & Piping – Connect the cleaning system with the equipment being cleaned.
  • Cleaning Bullets – Specially selected based on tube size, material and fouling condition.
  • Control & Monitoring Arrangement – Supports controlled operation and monitoring of the cleaning process.

How Bullet Cleaning Works

During the cleaning operation, suitable cleaning bullets are introduced into the condenser or heat-exchanger tube circuit. A controlled water flow propels the bullets through the tubes.

As the bullets pass through the tubes, they mechanically dislodge deposits and fouling from the internal tube surfaces. The bullets are subsequently collected through the bullet catcher and may be recirculated, where appropriate, until the required cleaning condition is achieved.

The cleaning method is selected based on the tube configuration, internal diameter, tube material, fouling characteristics and project requirements.

Benefits of Bullet Cleaning

Bullet cleaning can provide several operational and maintenance benefits:

  • Removes deposits and fouling from tube interiors
  • Helps restore heat-transfer efficiency
  • Supports improved cooling-water flow
  • Helps maintain condenser and heat-exchanger performance
  • Can reduce cleaning and maintenance downtime
  • Suitable for repetitive or scheduled maintenance cleaning
  • Provides a mechanical cleaning option for suitable tubular systems
  • Can reduce the need for extensive equipment dismantling
